Quality Control Day Shift !

We are growing ! We are currently seeking a Quality Control Technician for our rapidly expanding food manufacturing facility.

Job purpose : To ensure compliance to Regulatory Requirements (CFIA, FDA), food safety programs (HACCP, SQF Level 2), and finished product specifications. To provide on-going support to QA and production teams in daily plant activities adhering to company policies.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Perform QC monitoring on the line, namely: temperature and weight checks, fill level; metal detection, capping, coding, labels application, pallet pattern, etc.;
  • Verify that critical control point and quality parameters are as per established food safety program;
  • Responsible for food safety risks assessment and make decisions on raw ingredient/primary packaging/finished product integrity;
  • Perform finished product testing (pH, Bostwick, Brix, sensory) to ensure compliance to current specifications;
  • Ensure that non-compliant product is segregated per HOLD procedure and appropriate follow up actions are taken;
  • Responsible for effective implementation of Food Defence Program.
  • Responsible for decision making and leading of production team in crisis situations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of CCP, process and sanitation records by operators; perform an initial record review and communicate non-conformances to the monitors, responsible for immediate corrective action (where applicable).
  • Verify effectiveness of sanitation through in-house ATP and allergens testing;
  • Verify chemical concentrations using approved testing methods;
  • Collect samples and keep retain sample area in order;
  • Observe effective implementation of good manufacturing practices and be responsible for immediate corrective actions;
  • Acts as an active participant in HACCP Team Meetings;
  • Other duties as assigned by QA Supervisor or Director Continuous Improvement.

Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to provide technical support to operations personnel.

Experience:

- 3-5 years’ work experience in HACCP environment (must). __

Personality and other requirements:

- Excellent problem solving skills: ability to recognize and resolve food safety and quality issues, act as a leader in crisis situations;

- Proven strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, self-confident, goal oriented, able to confidently explain Food Safety & Quality and GMP requirements to the staff and resist pressure (if needed);

- Efficient organization of daily routine responsibilities and additional projects, effective time management;

- Ability to work with minimum to no supervision: reliable, trustworthy, honest, flexible, responsible, sense of ownership;

- Ability to work second and night shifts (if required,car ownership is preferred).

Education:

-* Diploma or Degree in *Food Science or related discipline (must);

- HACCP (1 and 2) certificate from recognized certification body (must).

Computer skills: Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel)
