>This is a full-time, non-union position reporting to the Manager of
>Employment Services.

>OBJECTIVE: This position is part of the Age Works Program designed to
>assist the mature worker. The successful candidate will participate
>actively
>with a team of counsellors to support and expedite the clients' successful
>re-entry into the workforce.

>DUTIES: Full duties are set out in the job description. Anyone
>interested in applying for this position is encouraged to obtain a copy
>from the HR Director. A brief summary follows:
>1. Work as a member of a team to provide integrated service to clients.
>2. Work in cooperation with the team to design and deliver workshops to
>the mature worker with the object of expediting their return to the
>workplace.
>3. Deliver information and orientation sessions twice monthly.
>4. Conduct individual intake interviews to assess the clients' needs
>and place them into the appropriate workshops.
>5. Administer vocational tests and interpret them to the client, making
>recommendations for work that is suitable to their interests, values
>and skills.
>6. Conduct exit interviews and review action plans and next steps.
>7. Maintain up-to-date case files using the ACT system.
>8. Gather information on resources available to support the experienced
>worker.
>9. Ensure that these resources are up-to-date and readily available to
>the clients.
>10. Help to train new staff, students and volunteers. Monitor their
>progress and schedules, and evaluate their performance. In the case of
>students, maintain contact with their placement supervisors, if
>required. REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS:
>* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
>* Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
>* The ability to work with minimal supervision.
>* Post secondary degree or diploma in a social service discipline.
>* Five or more years experience within the employment-counselling
>sector.
>* Life skills training and experience.
>* Personality Dimensions certification is preferred.
>* Experience in group facilitation and individual counselling
>techniques.
>* Proficient in MS Word and Internet.
>* Training in vocational testing.
>
>Hours of work will be 37½ per week, on a schedule that may include
>evenings and weekends.
